THE BEGINNING: A COLLECTIVE VISION
Formed in 1978 under its original name, The Sabah Housing Developers’ Association (SHDA), the association began with a small, yet determined group of founding members. These early pioneers saw the need for a united front to address industry challenges, engage with authorities, and elevate development standards in the state. Through dialogue, advocacy, and cooperation, SHAREDA quickly became a trusted voice in the industry.
A HOME OF OUR OWN: THE BEVERLY HILLS OFFICE
In 2005, SHAREDA achieved a symbolic milestone – the establishment of its first permanent office at Beverly Hills, Kota Kinabalu. More than just bricks and mortar, this office was made possible by the generous donations of its members, reflecting the unity and shared pride within the association. It became the heart of SHAREDA's operations and a true home for its members
GROWING WITH PURPOSE: OFFICE EXPANSION
As SHAREDA’s activities and influence continued to grow, so did its need for space. In 2008, the Beverly Hills office was expanded, reinforcing the association’s commitment to professionalism and providing a stronger foundation to serve its ever-growing membership base.
A MOMENT OF PRIDE: NATIONAL RECOGNITION
One of the association’s most celebrated achievements came in 2010 when SHAREDA received the prestigious Anugerah Pertubuhan Contoh from the Registrar of Societies. This recognition was a testament to SHAREDA’s excellence in governance, leadership, and its exemplary role in shaping the development industry.
LOOKING AHEAD: THE BIRTH OF SHAREDA YOUTH
In 2013, SHAREDA looked to the future with the creation of SHAREDA Youth – an initiative designed to nurture young leaders and future developers. This platform empowered the next generation with mentorship, education, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the industry’s evolution. Today, as we reflect on our journey through “The Legacy Archives,” we celebrate the milestones, people, and moments that have shaped who we are. SHAREDA’s story is one of growth, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to Sabah’s future. And this legacy – built over decades – continues to grow stronger, together.
