Introduction

Our History

The Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA), formerly known as the Sabah Housing Developers’ Association (SHDA), was established in 1978, primarily to represent housing developers in Sabah. In 2002, the Association underwent a significant restructuring, including a name change to reflect its expanded scope & broadening its focus beyond housing to encompass the entire spectrum of real estate development. This strategic shift allowed SHAREDA to better represent the evolving interests of its members and meet the growing demands of Sabah’s property industry. Today, SHAREDA serves as a unified platform for property developers, bringing together its members to pool expertise and resources with the aim of ensuring the industry continues to play a pivotal role in driving economic growth. Over the years, the Association has been actively involved in shaping the regulatory landscape by participating in various government committees and contributing to the formulation of policies and guidelines that govern real estate and housing development across the state.

In recognition of its exemplary role in industry development and public engagement, the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA) was selected from over 5,000 registered societies in Sabah to receive the prestigious Sabah Societies’ Role Model (Anugerah Pertubuhan Contoh) Inaugural Award by the Registrar of Societies Malaysia on 22nd May 2010. This distinguished accolade stands as a testament to the Association’s enduring commitment to excellence and its remarkable growth from just 15 founding members in 1978 to over 170 members.
